"The safety of children and vulnerable adults is paramount for the Church and its ministries."
More important than anything else - supreme. Now unpack that
In clergy speak he is saying that children are more important and above the God they claim is supreme also.
if their actions speak louder than their words their expenditure on children should be greater than their expenditure on clergy, cathedrals, the papacy and other expenditures that the Church undertakes. The fact is than has not happened and will not; as well Coleridge must be seen as a blasphemer and in breach of the Commandment of the Church that says that nothing should usurp the position and authority of their God.
Clearly Coleridge is in breach and just as clearly there are no Catholics pointing out the fallacy of the statement, as well he would be overstepping the mark by hijacking the authority of the pope and Rome.
Could this be the makings of another of the cognitive mysteries of the Church in that an archbishop can preach blasphemy while remaining in his current position.
My money says that Catholics are further dumbstruck by the audacity of Coleridge and are in deep concerted conversation as to which excuse should be applied to such a blatant breach of Church dogma and authority.
In the meantime I will applaud with kudos the top 10 excuses that are most likely. I will add panache to my accolades for a perfect match.
Human rights are not and can never be respected while a child or adult's life is trapped by the claimed will or word of an unaccountable blackmailing God.
"The Christian religion creates an environment where the child must bend and fold to the experience, the child must distort and fracture its own personality simply so that it may continue to survive in the environment in which it finds itself" JohnB
